Asthma is a disease in which the circular muscles in the walls of the breathing tubes of the lung tighten suddenly, so that the tubes are narrowed and air cannot get through. Asthma can be triggered by a wide variety of stimuli, including exercise, infection, pollen and dust. Most cases can be controlled by drugs, in particular an inhaler. If, however, the attack continues after medication has been used, or if the casualty has no medication on his person, you will need to employ emergency treatment.
